Hello! My name is Katie. I'm a 32-year-old female living and working in New York City. For the past year, I was working at an after-school arts program. Currently I tutor children with special needs in one-to-one settings while I am finishing my masters. I would like to be a teacher/caregiver since I enjoy working with children in an environment where I can most effectively develop a strong relationship with a child. I also have a background in painting and drawing, and I have experience working in music, theater and dance classes. As someone who struggled with a disability in school, I have found art to be a powerful tool for communicating, confidence-building and relaxation. I bring this creative perspective when working children who have special needs. I enjoy learning from children how to be creative when I give them the tools to do so.
