I am currently working with a young adult with a terminal disease called Niemann-Pick Type C. It is a progressive neurological disease which has severely inhibited her memory. I am looking for additional work, and while I'd like to continue one day per week, if possible. I guide and assist her with chores, we take walks, read together and do various crafts/games. I help with meal planning/serving, and encourage fluids; she struggles with anxiety, and among my other tasks, I am responsible to administer her medications, as needed. In 2007, I was certified as a Nurse's Aide, because I knew that caring for people was the work I wanted to pursue. I've worked in Assisted Living Facilities - caring primarily for elderly patients/residents, respectively. I am working through an agency on an as-needed basis with elderly clients in their own homes when I am not with the client described above. I am looking for more steady work, and have gained experience working with Lou Gherigs Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and Dementia in seniors, and Autism, Hydrocephalus, Epilepsy, Blindness, Down Syndrome, Celiac Disease, Niemann-Pick Type C and Cerebral Palsy in children, teenagers and young adults

Katie is very dependable and responsible. She's helped me care for my 12 year old special needs daughter and 9 year old son. She always asks if she is unsure of anything and communicates with us very well. She also helps with the dishes and laundry which is very appreciated. She is very sweet and such a nice person. I would certainly recommend her to anyone who was looking for any home care help!
