About Kathy

I love working with children. I have five years of experience teaching in public and private schools. In addition, I have 20 years of experience delivering individualized, one-on-one instruction as a home school mom, as a private tutor, and currently as an educational therapist. As an educational therapist I work with students to improve academic performance, remediate gaps in learning, and strengthen weak foundation skills that contribute to the student's struggles. I also address learning strategies, organization and time management skills, problem solving, attention, self-esteem, awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses, self-advocacy skills and motivation. The goal of educational therapy is to empower students to become independent, self-confident, life-long learners. All children deserve the opportunity to learn and excel to the best of their ability. In my spare time I enjoy live music, DIY projects, gardening, kayaking, and other outdoor activities.
