I am a very successful teacher of special needs children. My areas of expertise, include teaching, deaf, and hard of hearing children; teaching children who learn differently; and teaching children on the autism spectrum, all at the pre-K to grade 5. I have some experience with middle school age special ed students as well Teaching children who learn differently is a love of mine and I am highly successful with struggling readers and writers. I use an eclectic approach, and find the way that the child learns best. I use games and have many fun "tricks." to help challenged children. The goal is to teach the academic skill in a way that promotes confidence and takes away discouragement. I am part cheerleader.! Aside from many successful years of teaching, my family spent many years foster parenting and I was one of the very first court appointed guardians ad item for children in foster care. I enjoy working with children who struggle with mental health challenges.

Kathy has tutored me along with several of my special ed students. She is accommodating, kind, and teaches the abilities that the kids bring to the table. She is creative and knows how to bring out the best in every child, in order to help them to succeed, and grow in their education.
