About Kathryn

Hello! I provide safe, joyful childcare in my home. I am mom to six children ranging in age from 3 to 17 years old. I have cared for my family plus other children in my own home for many years. I was an environmental educator at nature centers and zoos writing curriculum and leading programs for school groups and young children. I find joy in seeing children gain knowledge and confidence as they experience the world around them. When I am caring for children, we spend some time at my home playing inside and outside, reading, dancing and singing, coloring, and playing games. I also enjoy taking children on outings. The families I have helped with childcare find me friendly, trustworthy, positive and a good communicator. I find that we become like family to one another. I'm happy to provide references and answer any of your questions. I look forward to meeting you and your family and creating a relationship with you while providing excellent care for your child.

I first met Kathryn when I moved to Charleston in 2022. She has been watching our son since then and after two years, I can say Kathryn is both a dear friend to me and a guardian angel. T. was a Covid baby and I had an extremely hard time leaving him in someone else’s hands, especially from 8:30am-4:30pm. Kathryn has helped me feel so reassured and more confident in my own parenting because I can ask her anything and she has a wealth of knowledge and experience to make me feel at ease. She always keeps me posted on what they are doing and sends me photos, plus she makes me aware of anything that may have upset my child and gives me a full report at the end of each day. I still don’t understand how she has the energy to go different places and do different fun activities each day. To me, Kathryn is a super hero; not only because she has six boys of her own but because they are all such loving and respectful young gentlemen. The entire family she runs is a testament to how incredibly hard she works to love and raise them. She knows how to set good boundaries with her kids and my son, while also ensuring they feel welcome and safe. She is excellent at positive redirection when something is upsetting or frustrating for the kids. Her nurturing and teaching style have been nothing short of extraordinary. A huge benefit to our son and our whole family. Kathryn is such an empowering woman and role model for me as a mom that I see nothing but love, selflessness and strength in her. To do what she does every day is something I am not capable of because I know I do not have nearly the amount of patience or joy as she does when it comes to taking care of small children. It is a gift to have her watch our son.
