I have an Early Childhood Education certificate and a BA in Sociology from UCLA. Good with children and patient. I have found that just having an outsider do homework with your children not only salvages your relationship but alleviates unnecessary stress in the house. Children expect their parent to give them the answers whereas they do not expect that from their "tutor teacher". The parent is then allowed to create the lasting memories of everyday learning or bedtime story without the fight of meeting a deadline. Tutors are a great way of teaching your children a structured way of learning. After a couple of sessions with your child, I would determine how your child learns best and give them tips on how to make studying easier for them (flashcards, outlining, verbal storytelling, etc). Every child is different. Every approach must be different, tailored to that specific child. I would need to know the child's routine (if it has worked in the past) and stick to that structure.
