About Kathleen

Having cared for both of my parents - my father with Parkinson's disease and dementia, my mother with cancer and dementia - for over a year, I assisted with appointments, errands, and grocery shopping, along with preparing meals, reminding about and/or giving medications, and going on slow, conversational walks together. What I found to be so very meaningful to them was actively listening to their stories from their pasts, happy memories, sad times, and everything in between. We enjoyed reading together, watching programs, listening to music & doing word search and crossword puzzles. During this time we created the most meaningful friendship, and thoroughly enjoyed & appreciated the companionship of each other. As they are no longer with me, I seek a similar relationship with a senior female, enjoying these activities plus all those of interest to my elder companion. Perhaps it will be gardening, cooking, my reading aloud, or a stroll.
