Recently I had the privilege of caring for my 95-year-old mother-in-law until she passed in July. While taking care of mom I had the following duties: - Preparing and serving balanced meals and snacks through out the day. - Disbursing medication. - Assist with dressing, bathing and going to the bath room. -Making and taking her to doctor's appointments. - Taking her for outings to get her out of the house. - Work with Physical Therapists and mom to help gain mobility back after a TMI. - Assist her in standing and walking. - Work with Hospice nurses and doctors towards the end of mom's life. - Clean her room and do her laundry. In addition to the most recent care giving I've also worked as a live-in care giver in private settings as well as adult foster care homes when I was younger. I've worked with a range of elderly from patients with dementia, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, as well people that just needed a little help. I love listening to the history that the elderly share with you.
