About Katherine

I am currently working towards my bachelor's degree in elementary education at Texas Wesleyan University. Through the early childhood and child psychology courses, I have obtained a strong understanding of child development. Combined with my experience as the children's minister, primary child care provider for a family, and an assistant teacher at a preschool, I have developed my skills in not only teaching, but more importantly, caring for children. I provide children with a strong-structured and loving environment in which to thrive socially and academically. My beliefs of discipline and praise are based on their choices because they are the only ones who control their body and speech. This allows children to take responsibility for their actions, both good and bad, and facilitates growth for them individually. My experience includes local family, nanny, and child care for 13-year-old for four years, and a 2-year-old since his birth. I ensured that they have a safe environment. I prepared nutritionally balanced meals and snacks to the children of the family, maintained good communication with the parents, informing them of each of their children's development and concerns in behavior.
