Starting June 2009 and ending August 2009, I worked as a PCA (Personal Care Assistant) for an 8-year-old girl who has ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.) I learned so much from this job, and most importantly patience and forgiveness. When she would have a break down I knew to stay calm, and getting mad at poor behavior would provoke even more bad behavior. Chores were always VERY hard to get done, so I always made sure to praise for the good work she had done. I learned a lot about how to help her get her chores done, school work, to express her emotions rather than act out, and how to distract her in a positive way to keep from getting angry.
