About Kate

I'm Kate! I am currently a 2nd grade teacher for HCPS and I am looking to connect with families. I graduated from VCU in 2023 im Elementary Education and I am licensed to teach grades Pre-K through 6. My goal as a tutor is to discover my student's strengths to create lesson plans and support that caters to a child's interests. I value using different methods of teaching to engage my students to ensure that they enjoy what they are learning. I love being outdoors and I believe experiential learning is just as valuable as traditional learning. At any opportunity, I like to get my students outside to learn in nature and encourage students to be curious and ask questions about the world around them. I have worked in many early childhood and elementary school settings such as an eco-friendly preschool, a preschool for students that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and online tutoring. I also have worked with families who have individuals with disabilities as an attendant for a few years.
