About Karen

My B. S. from UVM is in Ed. & Social Services, with certification to teach grades 1-6. After teaching in the school system for a few years I relocated to the west coast where I would tutor children on and off over the years. I'm Grammy to 4 and 7-year-old boys in Oakland, CA. I'd love to hang out with both your two and four legged family members! I'd describe my personality as friendly, responsible, and curious. I started tutoring when I was baby sitting as a teenager! I love it, as it allows me to make a tangible difference with young people. One thing you should know about me is that I have strong family values. My dad was a pediatrician and I grew up working in his office on Saturdays. We have a loving blended family, with 7 nieces and nephews, 2 grandchildren- and I genuinely love young people. I'm water safety certified, as well as up to date with CPR and first aid skills.
