My experience with special needs children has occured primarily as a teacher. I have had children in my programs and kindergartens with a range of special needs, including autism (severe and mild), developmental disabilities (mental retardation, or other delays), emotional disturbances, and deafness. I am currently a PCA for an adult woman with mental disabilities, blindness and mild autism. I have alot of patience, compassion and insight about the needs of children, both typically and atypically developing and am always willing to learn more.
