I love working with children. I hold an Early Education degree and have worked in daycare settings, private homes, and a special education junior high class. During college, I was a nanny for two years and cared for twin infants. Once married, I enjoyed homeschooling my three children, two of whom had learning challenges which they over came. I have also been a therapeutic foster parent for eight years and have cared for children with autism, developmental delays, medical issues, abuse, and neglect. Along with reading aloud, creative play, many and varied social experiences such as story hours, play groups, and community events, I believe it is essential to observe how a child learns and what is of particular interest to them in order to help each child develop his/her own interests, talents, and abilities. Music and athletics can be encouraged in very young children to help form a broad basis of learning and physical abilities which will improve and enhance their lives.
