I truly enjoy working with individuals with special needs because I find it rewarding to get to know the whole person, their strengths, interests, habits, and areas of challenge. I am seeking a position that does not require me to provide physical assistance (heavy lifting, positioning, transfers...) For 13 years I worked as an Occupational Therapist and then I moved into other positions within Human Services. I have experience with adults of all ages, with various challenges, such as dementia/memory difficulties, mental health conditions, developmental delays including individuals on the Autism Spectrum, as well as other disorders. I am quite skilled at helping people feel comfortable spending time with me and accepting assistance as needed.
