About Karen

I'm a mother of an amazing 19-year-old and have lived in Hood River for 20 years, working and volunteering in various ways. My main career has been in communications but I prefer working one on one with people. I served 4 years on Parks and Rec board, have been a CASA and have also been through hospice training twice: for Providence in Portland and in Hood River. I've sat and talked with patients, read to them, taken them on walks, prepared meals, and done light housekeeping while providing respite for family members. My most recent position was caring for a 96 yo recovering from hip surgery. I helped with PT exercises, bathrooming and dressing, cooked her breakfast and kept her company. I was also the primary caregiver for my partner while he was in home hospice. My CPR and First Aid certs. have lapsed but I'm working to renew them. I am a Reiki 2 energy worker. I love interacting with seniors and animals. I'm looking for a part time position. I'm a hard worker and very personable.
