About Karen

I am a licensed special education teacher with 8 years of teaching experience and a veteran homeschool mom. I work with students of all ages specializing in reading and writing. I'd describe my personality as Joyful, Intentional and Caring. I like tutoring because it is such a joy to help a struggling student gain confidence and understanding. I'm looking for a job that enables me to help struggling students and their parents. Working with a frustrated child can be daunting for parents and stressful for the child. I want to help families relieve stress while building confidence and understanding. I started tutoring in 2018. In my spare time, I like to read and spend time with friends and family. One thing you should know about me is that I have worked with students with ADD, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder and a variety of other learning issues. My skills include teaching phonics, reading comprehension as well as grammar and writing skills.
