About Karen

Reliable, supportive care for kids. I encourage learning & curiosity, & love helping kids explore their creativity- especially through art, nature, reading, movement, & encouraging imaginative play. I typically show up with lightness, playfulness, and humor, while also supporting them through emotional challenges. I'm deeply empathetic & communicate with kindness & patience. Years of therapy, personal study of psychology, and daily mindfulness practices give me tools to help kids feel seen, manage stress, and build coping strategies. I'm a pretty good, healthy cook & a pro with any dietary restrictions. After the majority of my adult life in tech, I'm shifting away from all day computer work to reconnect with caring for people, while continuing part-time freelance design work. I was a camp counselor & babysat loads in my younger days. I now spend time with my friends' many children & volunteer doing art with kids with mental health needs.
