About Kara

Hi I'm Kara and I would describe my personality as optimistic, driven and warm. I'm looking for a job that is consistent, working for a kind family where we can find mutual values and respect. I started working with kids when I was fresh out of college. I was a nanny for 5 years for the same family, children aged birth to 5. I was a high school teacher for 7 years before. I having my 2 children that are now 7 and 9. my youngest has Down Syndrome and I regularly volunteer and work with people in the Down Syndrome community. In my spare time, I like to do yoga, hike, go camping, read, meet up with friends, dance and spend time with my family. I am a huge advocate for neurodivergence and I think the world is made better by unique minds. I'm a creative problem solver and incredibly flexible. My skills include working with special needs kids, finding creative solutions to help stubborn kiddos move through their barriers, and I am an excellent healthy cook.
