About Jyla

Hello! I'm Jyla. I am from Altadena, California and I now reside in downtown San Diego. I moved to San Diego in 2021 as a transfer student from Pasadena City College to UC San Diego to pursue a B. S. in Public Health. I am a artist, creative, student and teacher. I began working with children at 16, when I received my first job as a summer camp counselor for children ages 5-7. This led me down the path of pursuing work centered around child and youth development. I am now on a gap year, but I have goals of pursuing my PhD to further my skills in teaching and one day become a professor. Currently and in recent years, I've continued to cater to teaching children in various way: as a garden educator, arts and crafts instructor or teaching English. I admire working with children, building genuine and wholesome bonds and aiding in their holistic development in ways that are fun and enriching for both of us.
