I am a CNA by trade in the Philippines. Apart from working in geriatric facilities in Sacramento as a care-staff, and medication technician, in the past I took on the responsibility of caring for my mother who was diagnosed with dementia in her 80's. Because of this, I have a deeper level of understanding the worries of family members in finding the right person to care for their love ones. In my experience, I would like to get to know what my clients family's expectations are and also what my client likes to do like hobbies. I tailor my clients Activities Of Daily Living, ADL's according to this. In senior care, what brings me joy is seeing my clients happy. I noticed that even the smallest conversations that brings them a sense of nostalgia reminiscing about the past (the treasure trove of stories- what they used to do, what their roles are, talking about their children, friends and family) gives them joy. Caring for seniors is to me is very rewarding and such a privilege.
