About Julie

Piano is a big part of my life. I've been playing since the age of five, and teaching piano since I was 15. I have composed 5 of my own pieces & have won awards for 4 out of the 5. I have experience in teaching elementary students music theory overseas & working with a small band in La maddelena, Italy. As much as I love the convenience of working with a set of piano books, I enjoy learning about each of my students individual learning styles & capabilities outside of the pre-written books. Piano students in my care learn the balance of structure & creative work, and understand the story behind what is (or will be) written. As much as I believe in knowing theory & the mechanics behind what a musician does, I believe in full creative expression with each of my pupils.
