About Julia

Julia is a professional opera singer and voice teacher currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She also holds a Master of Music from UIUC and a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Julia has performed major roles such as Donna Elvira, Fiordiligi, and Mimi and with programs such as Chicago Summer Opera, OperaFest Sewanee, Bayview Music Festival, and more. She has sung with professional orchestras such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra. As a teacher, she has years of experience teaching voice at the private studio level, as well as the university level. She teaches healthy vocal technique, artistry, performance skills, and offers instruction in piano, sight-reading, and music theory as well. She teaches multiple genres as well from classical to more contemporary styles.
