At the age of 17, I got my first job working with children with special needs. At the time, I was preparing to graduate high school and trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life. I was hired at a company that serves children with ASD and other developmental disabilities, as an aide in an after-school and summer camp program. I was ABA and CMT trained, and began work. Since my first day there, I have known that special education is a passion of mine, and have since continued on to work as a prekindergarten teacher. I believe that what makes me good for this job is my understanding that every child learns differently, and my desire to connect with children who need a different type of interaction than most. I pride myself on being compassionate, patient, and eager to learn from every person I meet.
