I have a lot of experience with special needs children and teenagers. I have a younger brother with autism and I volunteered in the special education department of my high school for three years. At the high school, I would do crafts, create lesson plans, and play games with my fellow students. We would go on field trips to a local pond to fish every year, as well as participate in the local Special Olympics event. This time with the teenagers in the special education department taught me patience, love, and that we really are all equal, no matter our physical abilities or IQ.
