About Jordan

I have had a lot of experiences with mentally and physically differently-abled children and teenagers, as my younger brother has autism and I volunteered with the special education department in my high school for three years. I spent 5 weeks teaching at a bilingual school in Honduras in the winter of 2011. I have also spent a lot of time at an infant center in La Esperanza, Honduras, where I worked with children of single parents of various ages. In the summer of 2013 I cared for two young boys, ages 2 and 5, one of whom has Autism. One of my most treasured experiences as a mentor and caretaker was as a coach for Commonwealth Roller Derby, a junior roller derby league in Richmond. The skaters ranged from 7 to 17 years old. I learned so much about myself through these amazing young athletes.
