For the last year and a half I was taking care of an incredible man who just lost his battle with dementia. At first it was simple reminders and at the later stage was all 1 on 1 care The 8 years prior I was caring for incredible gentleman. I took care of his catheter, diabetes, high blood pressure, meals, laundry, cleaning and appointments. Simple things like picking his clothes out, choosing his meals and helping me would make his day, We had so much fun. He has since passed away and he is very much missed. I have also worked closely with dementia and Alzheimer, physical and occupational therapy and also worked with mobility and transferring for bed to wheelchair, shower transfers, sit to stand alone with hoyer lift transfers. Jodi cared for my dad for 5 years. We initially had her come in for a couple of hours a days to help him with some light housework, but his needs soon became greater, and she gradually spent more and more time with him. Jodi really took the time to get to know him and appreciate him as a person, which we greatly valued. Not only did she provide great companionship for him, but she saw to it that his physical needs were met each and every day. She made sure he ate well, was well hydrated, and she assisted him with his physical therapy. One thing that we are most grateful to Jodi for is the fact that she was so tuned in to his medical conditions that she always knew when something was not right and he needed to be seen by a doctor, or possibly even the ER. Never once was she wrong; when she had a sense about something being off, we knew that action needed to be taken. We cannot thank Jodi enough for the amazing care and friendship she gave our dad right up to the very end.
