Growing up with an older sister with severe developmental disabilities from PKU, I have been involved with working with people with special needs all my life. I volunteered at a Special Summer Camp for folks with disabilities that my sister attended for many years in the 1970s and 80s. I also worked full time for HAVAR in Athens, Ohio for 7 years as a service coordinator in assisting people with cognitive disabilities live in independent living situations. We worked with people who had spent most of their lives in an institution. It was very rewarding work. I'm experienced and caring. I learn quickly and can accommodate nearly any special needs.
