This is an honest critique of Jessica. I appreciate that she showed up on time and helped out with our puppy as well as our toddler, but that's as far as her efforts went. She was on her phone most of the time she was here and had no discretion or respect using it in front of me while watching my son. I'm fine with people using their phone, but you're being paid to do a job and that should always come first. Even as my toddler tried to play and engage with her she didn't really reciprocate and was busy looking at her phone. Also, there was still poop on my kiddo after she changed his dirty diaper and I noticed it during his next diaper change that I took care of. She just didn't do a thorough job at cleaning him the first time and it was obvious. Luckily I was there and working from home. I only hired someone because my husband was at the office that day so I could get some extra coverage. I would not trust her to take care of a toddler by herself and I'm so glad I was there. I let Jessica go 2 hours before her shift was over because it wasn't worth it to have her complete the day. She may be better suited to watch after older kids if she decides to continue with child care, but definitely would not recommend hiring her for toddlers.
