Years back my aunt would hire me for the summer to assist her/be the nanny for her autistic son. He was non verbal and required daily drills to be done as part of his education and learning skills. I learned a lot and knew working with children with special needs was apart of my passion. When I went to college I got my CCD.. Child development associate and was a head teacher for a 3yr old group at an accredited preschool. It was there too that I got to work with children with a variety of special needs. Currently I am a residential support staff at a group home. My resident is an autistic 28yr old female with extreme explosive disorder causing her to have physically aggressive behaviors pretty much every day. I'm always eager to learn more knowledge on how to help our individuals who have special needs and make a special difference.
