About Jerlyn

I am attending graduate school for Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy. I have worked for an inpatient hospital in the rec dpt where my job was to run groups and trips for adults and children with dvlpmntl and physcl disabilities. I also have worked in a treatment home for children with severe emotional and behavioral problems that require patience, creativity, and redirectional skills. I am trained in the Nurtured Heart Approach which believes in energizing positive behavior, giving neutral energy to neg behavior, and making clear and understandable expectations and directions. I am sure this bio so far sounds like I am a pretty structured person, however I am also very creative and artistic. I believe that play is an important part of a child's development, so I try to implement autonomy, play, and learning into my care for children.
