About Jerilyn

Hello, my name is Jerilyn and I am 22 years old. For 3 months I worked in a nursing home. My favorite part of the job was the residents. In my free time at work I would sit and talk to the residents. I cared about them all so much as people. Most of them didn't have family that would visit them on the holidays which broke my heart. One of the residents and I specifically had a great bond. I would watch him for the other staff members because he would try and get out of his wheelchair on his own. They would place his wheelchair by the window for the kitchen and we would talk for hours. He just needed someone to listen to him and talk to him. Someone to watch him and make sure he was safe. I learned a lot about his life from when he was younger. If he was ever having an issue or was upset I was the only one that would calm him down like as soon as he seen me he knew he was safe. The memory of him will stay in my mind forever. That was the moment I felt most fulfilled in my life.
