About Jenn

During my AmeriCorps term of national service I spent my weekends getting certified as a CNA ( Certified Nursing Assistant) in the state of Washington. I did my required hours in a nursing home and I passed my state exam with an almost perfect score. Working in a nursing home, even for that short time, taught me the importance and value of listening to people. I used the skills I acquired through that licensure to help care for a close friend's grandmother and to care for my own grandmother. Both were kept in the home and cared for by family. My skills acquired regarding dementia were particularly helpful while caring for my friend's grandmother. In Denver I was able to get my CNA license through the process of reciprocity, as I still had my active license in Washington State. I used my license to gain a job working in a rehabilitation center caring for patients and overseeing the implementation of substance abuse testing as required by the State of Colorado.
