I am a certified teacher with 15 years of experience. While SPED was not my specialty, over the years I've had many students who were not neurotypical. Most commonly Autism and ADHD. More recently I found myself substitute teaching while moving to the state more recently. The main teacher of the Significant Special Needs room quit unexpectedly. I began working in that role on an emergency basis. Frankly, I might not have taken the job if I'd realized what SSN means! But I'm so profoundly glad I did! I have found that I have a passion and a talent relating to these kids. They are so inspiring. Every day is a brand new adventure. I'm always on my toes in the best possible way. I was considering leaving teaching before this, but I feel like I've found my new calling.
