I find working with special needs to be a life long love and passion. I have been told that I have an extreme amount of patience. I feel it is more like compassion and a heart to understand. My greatest joy is to see a child succeed at something that they worked so hard at and then understand it. Most of the time their succcess is measured in inches, not feet. I have worked as a Unique Aide in a VE classroom. I gained much experience working with a wide range of varying exceptionalities. I worked one on one with children that had cerebral palsy, nonverbal autism, seizure disorder, chromosomal disorder and cognitive functional development. I have experience assisting with behavior management, daily living skills and reinforcing academic skills on individual basis. As a unique aide, I would diaper children up to the age of 13 and assist with transitioning from wheelchair to toilet. I worked full time with CP including IG tube and transferring from wheelchair to floormat for exercise.
