About Jennifer

Hello :-) I love helping others to achieve their educational goals. I am very passionate about education and helping people. I enjoy working with children and college students. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Oakland University. I did my practicum at an elementary school during the 2014 - 2015 school year. I worked on the following at my practicum: Observed and worked with general education, early childhood special education, autism spectrum disorder, and cognitively impaired classrooms. Prepared lesson plans for individuals and small groups. Facilitated weekly social skills groups with special education students. Instructed small groups to modify behaviors that build character development and organizational skills. Created and utilized social stories for special education students. Helped general education and special education students complete assignments, study, and checked homework for completion. Participated in behavioral plans meetings with parent(s)/guardian(s), social worker, and staff member(s). Developed and assessed students goals with social worker and teachers, as they are measured by individualized educational plans (IEP) and progress reports. Assisted with designing and presenting intervention programs. Attended bi-weekly professional learning community meetings with the district's social workers. I offer creative one-on-one tutoring tailored to individuals needs. My focus areas include Reading and Comprehension, Writing, English and Language Arts, and Social Sciences. Also, I may tutor other subjects that are not specified. I work with individuals completing Homework Assignments, Studying, and Test preparation. My strategy is to meet individuals where they are and guide them to strengthen and develop skills. I work with parents and individuals to set up a tutoring plan.
