I have grown up with a best friend with Down syndrome. He forever changed my life. He is the reason I am hoping to one day become a special education teacher. He influenced me to finally commit to a major in college and to have a dream to accomplish. I also attended junior prom with a boy with sever autism. His mother never thought he would have the chance to go, but I made it possible for him. He had the time of his life that night. I am very experienced with special needs and one day hope to be able to work with people with special needs for the rest of my life.
