I have always had an open mind and heart to those with special needs of any sort. I have family that is special needs, and my best friend of 11 years has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, Paranoid Schizophrenia, and is Manic Depressive. I do not hold anything against anyone and would like to pride myself in my patience and understanding. Although I do not have a degree in this field (I really should, I love this type of work) I have a gentle and different kind of approach in order to get to the core of the needs of the person, and with time will help them gain some sort of independence while learning skills along the way. I have worked with children with Autism of various spectrum's, a child in a wheelchair who had MS and I was working closely with a child with Downs Syndrome (all as a paraprofessional at an after school in 2007). My passion with special needs people is (to me,) very special, and I really do enjoy spending every moment of my day helping some one else out.
