I have worked in a variety of medical institutions helping people with special needs. As a medic in the Air Force, I worked on the nursing unit and assisted with the daily care of patients with special needs. Working in the emergency room of hospitals as an EMT, many patients were special needs, unable to afford health care. In nursing school, I did my clinical rotation at a rehab hospital. After being stabbed in the back, my first husband was paralyzed from the chest down and I was his total caregiver.
