Each step we take toward finding and creating meaning in our lives draws us closer. To be a part of the ecosystem of a community is to experience a life well lived. For me, my time as a lead wilderness therapy mentor and social worker is the most accurate snapshot of my true purpose; being in direct service to others. As a former Homeless Services Case Manager, I had many responsibilities. But the integral nature of safety, love, and belonging always came first. With children, this looks like leading by example and slowing down to practice new lessons together. To show up dependable, willing, and with a regulated nervous system. In the wilderness program, I facilitated therapeutic groups for processing conflict and resolution.
