I am an attentive respectful, engaging Companion, and Personal Care Attendant, helping clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, acquired brain injuries, cancer, heart and lung conditions, and those in hospice care, providing love, gentleness, respect, compassion, and laughter. I engage clients in speech, memory-enhancement, joyful activities, engaging stories, and exercise to improve clients' strength and memory. I read with them and discuss and research topics, walk or wheel around outside, do puzzles together, paint and play cards. I am CPR/First Aid and MAP certified and provide medication administration, and all types of personal care, including bathing, showering, emptying commodes, toileting, and transfering. I am happy to do laundry and housekeeping, and I prepare delicious, fresh, nutritious meals and snacks.

With delight I recently learned that Janet is listed on the Care.com caregiver roster in Massachusetts. For nearly 30 years I have have worked with Janet in a variety of care environments. We first met in upstate NY when a friend in our community was dying with Hospice support at home. For perhaps a month our care giving shifts frequently overlapped and we worked closely together. I deeply appreciated her punctuality and, when required, her willingness to stay longer to bridge the arrival of a co-worker, or make certain all shifts were covered so the care giving would remain balanced and the patient safe. Our tasks were varied. Janet cooked healthy meals, offered consistently kind, gentle and competent direct care including changing, toileting/bed pan, bathing, dressing and keeping the patient comfortable. She also found many ways to support the needs of her co-workers. She followed instructions from hospice workers, nurses and team leaders promptly and carefully. Shift notes/log entries she entered were clear and accurate which allowed for easeful, seamless shift changes. By nature Janet was then, and I still know her to be, even tempered, patient and fun. She enjoys interacting with patients, clients and people in general, and finds many ways to tailor activities to the specific needs and interests of those she is with. Some years later, after working together on other care giving projects, due to my own serious health issues at that time I was not able to move on my own. Janet helped me pack up and move to Pennsylvania. She took on team leader responsibilities and did an excellent job start to finish. I wish Janet lived near Philadelphia so I could recommend her locally.
