I'm a licensed practical nurse. Most recently I helped my daughter who is visually impaired with her journey through pregnancy and a kidney transplant. I coordinated and transported her visits to many different appointments including dialysis treatments and specialty providers, assisted with her ADLs, organized and administered her medications. And finally and most happily helped care for her premie while she underwent a kidney transplant and that period of recovery. I've also had the opportunity to help with the care of a patient with Alzheimer's. I provided companionship 3-4 days a week that included medication management, meal preparation, walks and lots of smiles. Both experiences were so rewarding and beneficial to the individuals I assisted that I've chosen not to return to formal nursing but to bring more personal care back to those who need some warmth and brightness in their day.
