About Janet

Most recently I was a paid companion and caregiver for a 76-year-old with Alzheimer's. I managed her medications, drove her to provider appointments, helped her with light housekeeping and laundry, prepared lunch, and read to her. Our favorite times together were spent walking and chatting or looking at photo albums together. I never made her feel that I was anything other than a friend visiting and helping out (except when it came time for medications!) Unfortunately, her disease progressed and she went to live in a memory care unit of a local nursing home. I felt so fortunate to be able to help her with this transition. I helped care for my own grandmother until she was 105. I feel all those in need of care should be treated like a loved and respected family member.
