I worked in the Cobb County School System for two years as a one-on-one paraprofessional for a nonverbal student with autism. I dealt with behaviors such as eloping, hitting, and handling inappropriate behaviors. I have also dealt with biting, head banging, and other aggressive behaviors. I worked closely with Speech therapists, Occupational therapists, and Behavioral therapists provided by the school system, as well as the Marcus Institute. I was trained by the Marcus Institute to work with two individuals who had Autism: one in the school system and one in the home setting. I have also attended therapy with clients through WellStar and created a home program that is used daily in the household. I have also created a daily log sheet where meals, activities, medications, and bathroom times are recorded. I have experience with the compass program (communication device). I know how to revise the program as well as use it for basic everyday activities.

Jamila sat for me for over 5 months and was wonderful with my special needs daughter. She is reliable, punctual, friendly and really patient. My daughter really enjoyed her time with Jamila. I highly recommend her for any family seeking care.
