About James

I have 4 years of tutoring experience as well as 2 years acting in a substitute paraeducator role. My main specialty is with Math but, I have worked with students on learning how understand/interpret literature as well learn strategies to employ when proof reading. I can also offer a more generalized homework support with other subjects. Much of my experience as a para was spent supporting students who were in an alternative classroom setting and needed just that bit more support to help them reach their goals. The reason I have taken to tutoring is because I have always found a great deal of enjoyment watching as the switch goes on in a students head when they finally grasp a concept. Watching students slowly grasp onto topics and build up confidence is a wonderful thing to witness. In terms of my general approach/philosophy to tutoring, I think that students should be treated as responsible for their learning and understood as equals in striving towards their educational goals.
