About James

I love math and helping people to learn and appreciate it. I have done so for the last 12 years. I was employed as a math teaching assistant at the Univ. of AR for 4 years and math, science, and information technology tutor at NWACC for several. I have also learned to tutor in business courses such as accounting, finance, economics, data analysis, and supply chain. I am highly skilled with computers. I have helped many students and adults with business apps, especially advanced Excel, and up to intermediate level programming mainly using Python, C#, and C++. My teaching philosophy and methods consists of setting high expectations for clients of all backgrounds while also having the patience to meet them where they are. The power of having high expectations in education is a well-documented best practice. Also, the goal is to help clients become better independent learners less reliant on others. Emphasizing "ownership of learning, perseverance, and self-efficacy" can help achieve this.
