When entering my Junior year of college, I was introduced to the unique world of Special Education. I was finishing up my degree in Art Education and I needed to find experience working with students that had special needs. I worked with three different schools that had big special education programs. When I taught my first lesson to one of the classes, I realized how much I enjoyed working with them. From there I worked with Coit Creative Arts Academy with their MOECS program, working with children with sensory needs to children with autism. When teaching art to these young minds I learned very quickly how important art is to their growth as individuals. All though I faced challenges along the way, every step was worth taking just so they could succeed. As a special needs caregiver, I will make sure not only are they cared for, but every accomplish they make they feel that success, that they see their progress as an individual.

Jackie worked as a student teacher for me in the Fall of 2014. She is a kind, empathetic and passionate person, who genuinely cares for the welfare of others, both physical and emotional. She taught children ages K-5th grade art and worked closely with them to advance their artistic skills. I give her my highest recommendation.
