About Jacob

Hello there! I am a certified English Teacher for grades 6-12. I currently teach 7th grade ELA and Social Studies. My goal as a teacher and a tutor is to make the content relatable and accessible. The beautiful thing about English Language Arts is it is in the world all around us, especially in a lot of students favorite hobbies and activities. All the content they absorb today comes from someone who has a strong basis in not just reading and writing, but understanding how those and other literary disciplines are used to create much of what students see, play, and enjoy. This past year in my ELA class we related curriculum concepts to Marvel, Star Wars, Hunger Games, and Stranger Things, just to name a few. With some extra time and attention, the information and disciplines students need to engage with can be viewed through the lens of their hobbies and interests. I strive to find that relationship to make the learning more accessible, and dare I say... maybe even enjoyable!
