I earned my PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology form UC Berkeley and BS in Biochemistry from the University of Oregon. I have research training (at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, UC Berkeley, the National Institutes of Health and UCSF) in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, infectious disease and neurobiology as well as experience mentoring, tutoring, and teaching in the biological sciences. Critical thinking, authentic problem solving and creativity are pillars of my own teaching philosophy and are core objectives I have for my own students. I have extensive experience in STEM education for students ranging from K-12 and university students and have worked with diverse students from varied backgrounds. In addition, I worked as a private English Tutor for 2 South Korean students (age 7 and 9) and have worked with students in essay writing and grammar.
