Ever since I was a young girl, I've always felt drawn to helping those with special needs. My uncle, who I spent a lot of time around had autism. My grandma taught us that those with special needs are just as deserving of genuine love and care. Those with special needs are no different than those without, they are still human and enjoy the same things we do. Ever since then I've lived my life with this in the back of my head. During highschool I was an active member of the best buddies club, and also enrolled in peer facilitation courses. This class really reinforced what I had already learned and gave me lots of wondering experience working with my special needs peers daily.
